The evergreen Kurumba Maldives hosted the Future Summit 2025 on June 25, 2025, a landmark event that brought together government leaders, tourism industry pioneers, and industry visionaries to discuss the next chapter of Maldivian tourism. Under the theme “Maldives Tourism: The Next Leap Forward,” the summit delivered a day of thought-provoking discussions, actionable ideas, and meaningful connections that promise to drive the industry toward a sustainable and innovative future.

The event opened with an address by Hon. Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Tourism and Environment, who called for greater dialogue and closer industry collaboration to support sustainable growth. Key takeaways included empowering Maldivian hospitality professionals, expanding cultural offerings, and embracing data-driven strategies across the sector.

Dr. Naushad Mohamed delivered the keynote address on “How the Maldives Can Stay Ahead in a Competitive Global Tourism Market.” A renowned thought leader in education and innovation, Dr. Naushad discussed how the Maldives can leverage its unique cultural and natural assets to differentiate itself in an increasingly crowded global market.

Mr. Amjad Thaufeeg presented findings titled “From Boom to Balance: Can the Maldives Keep Growing Without Losing What Makes It Special?” — a brief history of Maldivian tourism numbers, supported by key statistics highlighting both concerns and opportunities.
